Alpha Lambda (circa 1958)

Brother A. Moore Shearin, The 7th Grand Polemarch (Delta Chapter, Wilberforce Univ.) voted to establish the undergraduate chapter - Alpha Lambda of Kappa Alpha Psi in the Southeastern Province(SE) at South Carolina State University (SCSU) was chartered on December 5, 1931.

Seventeen (17) charter members of South Carolina State College established - the Alpha Lambda of Kappa Alpha Psi (SE). Their names are the following:

All 17 have transitioned to the Golden Shores 

All brothers have transitioned to the Golden Shores – Honor to the Legendary Brothers of South Carolina State University Chapter(Formerly South Carolina State College), the Alpha Lambda of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity (SE).

Due to the hard work of its undergraduate members and leadership, the Alpha Lambda chapter is widely acknowledged throughout the SE Province and the country as the “Flagship” or the “Beast in the Southeast”. The Alpha Lambda of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., has initiated over 1,083 members to become leaders in the local schools, military, city, and government offices.

It is the purpose of the Alpha Lambda Alumni Association to voluntarily advance the fundamental purpose of the Fraternity through community involvement and fellowship among undergraduates and graduates initiated into the Alpha Lambda chapter at South Carolina State University or attending the University while an undergraduate student. Members include fathers, sons and grandfathers, educators, business leaders, dentists, doctors, lawyers, commissioned military officers, engineers, and countless private business owners continue to carry the pride and honor to be initiated into the Alpha Lambda Chapter at SCSU.

Ten men of humble beginnings had the vision to assist and support one another individuals at an institution of higher learning on the campus of Indiana University (Alpha) chapter during difficult times beginning on January 5, 1911. Through their guidance and commitment to the pursuit of “Achievement” is an everlasting tribute to the ten (10) men who founded Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. for more than 110 years.
